My work is pretty much exclusively the local Gloucestershire landscape. It never stops fascinating me. I’m interested in the weather, the cloud formations, shadows and colour. Living in the depths of the Gloucestershire countryside for over 35 years I am continually astounded by its natural beauty. It has informed my work for many years and continues to do so. I work in acrylics using thin layers of paint to build up a detailed painting. Along with paying attention to colour and composition in my foreground I will most often include grasses and fauna giving my paintings depth and perspective. I aim to make each painting recognizable to the onlooker, but to take them to a place they know or would like to know and immerse them in the painting.
